The UK Government will announce later this year whether it wants to build a 3rd runway at Heathrow or a 2nd runway at Gatwick. There are protests at both airports.
In February the Heathrow campaigners hired an Advan which toured London with their message:
24th February: The 13 Plane Stupid protesters who occupied the runway at Heathrow were each sentenced to 6 weeks in jail but suspended for a year plus community service.

There was huge media interest in the case.
The protests against the noise impacts of the 4th runway at Frankfurt continue. Each Monday night protesters occupy the terminal. And, last month, campaigners drove past the home of the Economics Minister playing aircraft noise.
On 27th February an estimated 60,000 people blocked the roads and motorways in protest against the proposed new Nantes Airport at Notre-Dames-des-Landes. The French Government has said it is considering holding a local referendum to decide whether or not the controversial new airport should go ahead:
